Three-goal second period lifts Falcons to 4-2 victory

The Falcons scored three goals in the second period to come back from a two-goal defecit and defeat Concordia-Moorhead, 4-2.
Jared Anderson's first goal of the season, a wrister from the left circle at the 13:48 mark of the second period, proved to be the game-winner. After a Cobber turnover in the Falcons zone, Chris Burke picked up the loose puck at the right circle, slid a pass cross ice to Anderson, who beat goalie Bryan Howard gloveside.
Late in the first period, the Falcons fell behind the Cobbers 2-0. With the score already 1-0, Concordia-Moorhead got a second goal when Brady Burgess tapped a rebound out of midair.
But the second period was all Falcons, just 1:30 into the period forward Jeff Bernard skated up the right baseline and trickled the puck past Howard. Two minutes later, Chris Burke tied the score with a wrister from in between the circles.
After a shaky first period, goaltender Jacque Vezina settled down to stop 36 of 38 shots.
The Falcons continue their interlocking schedule with the MIAC tomorrow
night against St. John's. Face off is 7:05 p.m.
