Softball battles rain and MIAC

The news around the Concordia women's softball team, like all other spring sports, is no news. The
weather has caused the cancellation of the women's last 3 games.

The only action the Lady Cobs have been able to get in the last two weeks was against Macalester on
April 18th. In that doubleheader, Concordia got some strong pitching along with good hitting to win both games 3-1 and 7-1.

In the first game, the Cobbers were led by sophomore Stacie Johnson. With bases loaded in the first
inning, she hit a double to left-center field gap to score two runs. For the game, Johnson was 2-3, and for the series, she went 4-6 with 4 RBI's. Junior pitcher Erin Gunderson gave up only three hits on her way to the win.

In the second game, Concordia had an offensive explosion, racking up 11 hits. Seven of those hit came from junior Amanda Schindeldecker and senior Heather Stohs. Schindeldecker went 4-4 with two doubles and a triple, while Stohs added three hits and three RBI's. Senior pitcher Christine Moen pitched a complete game and got her team leading fourth victory of the season.

The Lady Cobbs are 6-2 in the MIAC, and 9-3 overall. Their next home game is scheduled for April 28th
against conference leader St. Mary's. This series should go a long way in deciding Concordia's playoff
hopes. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
