Sr. Thief River Falls, Minn. Named to the AHCA All-American Second Team. |
(NORTHFIELD, VT)---Concordia College senior defenseman Treavor Peterson (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) was named to the 2002-03 American College Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Division II/III (College Division) All-American Second Team. It is the first time that Peterson has received an award at the national level. He becomes the first Concordia player since Bryan Howard ('01) to be honored with All-American honors. Peterson is only the sixth player in school history to be named to an all-american team.
He was one of only four players from the MIAC to earn All-American honors. Augsburg's Jaro Cesky (Sr., Prague, Czech Republic) was the only player from the conference to be named to the first team. Besides Peterson, Rick Gregory (Sr., Flin Fon, Manitoba/Notre Dame HS) and Ryan Langenbrunner (Fr., Cloquet, Minn../Cloquet HS), both from league champion St. John's, were named to the second team.
Earlier this year, Peterson was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season. During the 2002-03 season he led the team in assists, finished second in points and third in shots taken (50). He was tied for the MIAC lead in scoring by a defenseman with 24 points (6g/18a). His regular season total of 18 assists placed him sixth in the league. He was also tied for 14th in the MIAC in overall scoring and tied for sixth in power play points (12).
Last year Peterson led all Cobber defensemen in scoring with 20 points. His 24-point total is a career-high, and gives him 51 total points for his Cobber career.
