Cobbers Drop Close Meet to St. Ben's 130-112.

Concordia opened their 2002-03 dual meet season by dropping a 130-112 nail-biter to St. Ben's. The Cobbers only won 4 of the 13 events in the meet, but were able to stay close to the Blazers with a consistent meet from the whole team.
Andrea Ross (Sr., Pleasanton, Cali.) won both diving events in the meet, proving that she is ready to pick up where she left off before breaking her hand in the 2001-02 season. Ross won the first 1 meter diving competition by almost 20 points and tacked on the win in the back half of the 1 meter dive by beating teammate Emily Hall by 15 points.
First-year swimmer Elizabeth Stuker (Chinook, Mont.) was the only other individual event winner for the Cobbers, as she edged out teammate Meghan Erdman (So., Crookston, Minn.) in the 100 yard butterfly. Jenny Berg (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) finished third in the event to give the Cobbers the 1-2-3 sweep.
The other event victory came from the 400yard freestyle team of Carrie Beisel (Sr., Warroad, Minn.), Megan Johnson (So., South St. Paul, Minn.), Jana Hemstad (Fr., Milaca, Minn.) and Kaia Slevin (Fr., Roseau, Minn.). The win was the first victory in school history for a Cobber freestyle relay team over the Blazers.
Concordia will swim against Macalester on Saturday, November 2nd at
1:00pm in St. Paul.
