Cobbers Sing the Day 2 Blues, Finish Third at the Carleton Invite.
NORTHFIELD-- Concordia couldn't hold their day 1 lead and fell into a tie for third place in the final results at the Carleton Invitational. The Cobbers, who only had one player shoot in the 70's on the deciding day of the tournament, shot a team total of 323 after opening the event with a 313. Concordia's final score of 636 was 15 shots behind meet champion Gustavus.

Cobber freshman  Drew Dvorak (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield HS), suddenly thrust into the role of the team's number one golfer, responded to the challenge by firing identical scores of 76 (152) and finished tied for third in the individual competition.

Mike Lundberg (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) finished at 159 (79-80) and finished in a tie for 13th. For the second consecutive meet, and only the fourth time in the past two years, Carl Hunt (Sr., Crookston, Minn./Crookston HS) was not the team's medalist. Hunt shot 80-82 (162) and finished in a tie for 25th. Peter Krier (So., Lake Park, Minn./Hawley HS) fell off his day one pace. After firing a 78 on Friday, Krier ballooned to 85 in the final day. Erik Hansen (Jr., Hancock, Minn./Morris Area HS) had the biggest discrepancy from day 1 to day 2 of any golfer in the tournament. He shot a 93 on Saturday, which was a full 13 strokes off of his opening round score of 80.
The Cobbers last tune-up before the conference championship meet will be at the prestigious Twin Cities Classic on October 2-4.
