Mahtomedi Magic Not Enough for the Cobbers as They Fall 6-2 to Colorado College.
NORTHFIELD-- Concordia saw a 2-1 halftime lead blown up in the second half, as Colorado College scored five times in the final 45 minutes of play to win 6-2.

The Cobbers took a 1-0 lead in the opening period of play when Kevin Quimby (So., Mahtomedi, Minn.) netted his first goal of the season on a pass from Andrew Gunderson. 

The Tigers evened the game when Patrick McGinnis scored the first of his five goals in the contest. The Cobbers responded by taking a 2-1 lead when Joe Wieland (Sr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) finished off a shot on a passing combination from Brandon Root (So., Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) and Rick Tungseth (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.). It was Wieland's first collegiate goal, and comes a little more than one year since he broke his leg in a game against Puget Sound (Wash.) last season. 

The second half was all McGinnis and Colorado College. The senior forward notched four goals in the final period of play to spark the Tigers to a five-goal outburst. The five goals in a half, and six for the game, is the most by Colorado College this season.

Concordia is now 1-8-2 on the year, while the Tigers improve to 9-2-1. 

The Cobbers will travel to Texas to play in the Trinity University National Invitational Tournament on October 8-9. The Cobbers will play Trinity, the defending national champions, on Friday, October 8 at 7:30pm and then square off against Southwestern (Texas) on Saturday, October 9 at 5:00pm.
