COLFAX, Wisc.-- It's been almost three weeks since Concordia has competed in a competitive meet and it's been two weeks since Nick Myran (Sr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) came down with an injury that severely cut into his 2004 training, but both looked like they hadn't missed a beat - as Myran and the rest of the Cobbers ran at top form in the NCAA Pre-Nationals Meet at UW-Eau Claire.

Myran finished 12th in a meet that attracted the top NCAA Division III teams from around the country as they were able to run on the course that will be used for the national Championship Meet. Concordia as a team finished in a tie for 15th with Augsburg. The Cobbers were able to beat two other teams from the MIAC and finish within 80 points of conference foe Gustavus. 

Myran finished in a time of 26:08.2, which placed him 12th overall and in sixth place among MIAC runners. At last year's MIAC Championship Meet, he finished ninth and then at the NCAA Regional Meet he finished 14th. Myran is on pace to become the first Concordia men's cross country athlete to qualify for the national meet since 1992 when Jason Trichler ('93) accomplished the feat. 

The rest of the Concordia top five runners finished in identical order to their finish at the first meet of the year at St. John's. Ben Nylander (Sr., Lisbon, N.D./Lisbon HS) was the second highest Cobber finisher with a time of 27:20.9 which was good for 64th place. Dan Bye (So., Mankato, Minn./Mankato Loyola HS) finished a full minute behind Nylander, as he ran a 28:38.0 and finished in 115th place. Scott Dinsen (Fr., Hastings, Minn./Hastings) and Matt Putratz (Mazeppa, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa) paced each other throughout the meet with Dinsen pulling away in the end. He finished with a time of 29:02.1 and was 124th. Putratz came home in a time of 29:10.3 and finished 125th. 

Two other Cobber runners competed at the meet. Nathan Lodermeier (Sr., Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) ran a 30:32.1, and Aaron Korf (Fr., Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) was right behind with a 30:57.2.

Concordia will return home to race against MSU-Moorhead on Friday, October 8 at 4:45pm at the Ponderosa Golf Club.
