Cobbers Take Scenic Route to Second Place at SD Tech Invite.
(RAPID CITY, S.D.)-- Concordia traveled into the Black Hills of South Dakota and came away with a lot more than Fool's Gold and breathtaking keepsake pictures.

The Cobbers placed second at the South Dakota Tech Invite and received solid performances from all seven of their top runners. Natalie Hanson (Sr., Rogers, Minn./Elk River Area HS)  continues to carry the torch of the team's #1 runner. Hanson, picking up where Lisa Owen left off in 2003, finished fifth in the individual standings. It is the first time in her career that she has posted a top-five finish in a mulit-team event. She has now finished in the top six in her first two events of the 2004 season.

As a team, Concordia finished with 59 total points - 29 behind team champion Black Hills State. The Cobbers had six of their top seven runners place in the top 20 of the place standings.

Jennifer St. John (Sr., Billings, Mont./Billings West HS) posted her second straight 10th place finish. She finished in a time of 22:00.76, almost 10 seconds ahead of the next finisher.

The rest of the top five for Marv Roeske's squad was filled out by experienced seniors. Julie Miller (Sr., Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Erin Anderson (Sr., Bowman, N.D./Bowman HS) and  paced each other throughout the meet, finishing 13th and 14th. Miller was able to outkick Anderson at the end and beat her by six seconds. Kristine Jensen (Sr., Pierz, Minn./Pierz-Healy HS), running in her first meet of the season, finished 17th in a time of 22:33.00. 

The next competition for Concordia will be at the UND Ron Pynn Invite at the Ray Richards Golf Club in Grand Forks, N.D. on Friday, September 17 at 4:00pm.
