All-Conference Award Recap
Thomas and Lester Walk
Away With MIAC Men's Tennis Postseason Awards.
ST. PAUL-- Concordia senior
Jake
Thomas (Indian Hills, Colo./Conifer HS) and head coach Dave
Lester earned MIAC postseason honors as announced by the league office
on Tuesday.
Thomas was named to the All-Conference
team and Lester was named the MIAC Coach of the Year. It is the first postseason
award for both Thomas and Lester and caps a breakhrough season for Concordia
men's tennis.
Thomas, the lone senior on
the Cobber squad, was the team's #1 singles player and finished the year
with a 10-7 overall record. He finishes his three seasons with the Cobbers
with 25 overall wins.
Lester was the architect
behind the resurgence of the men's program in 2005. The Cobbers finished
the year with a 12-6 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play.
The 12 victories during the season is the most for a Cobber men's team
since the 1992 season. It is also the first time since 1992 that Concordia
has cracked the 10-win barrier. During the year Concordia won seven straight
matches, which was the longest winning streak since the 1991 campaign.
