Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team Recap Nick Myran Earns Academic
All-District Honors! The honor is given to athletes in the College Division of the Academic All-American award. The College Division includes players from Division II, III and NAIA from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana schools. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to be nominated. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.20 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. College sports information directors in the district vote for the teams. Myran was one of 55 athletes nominated for the 20 spots for the district award. The award ends the career of one of the hardest working and classiest runners to ever compete for the Concordia men's track and field team. Myran was the MIAC champion in the 1500 meters at the conference outdoor meet this past spring and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track and Field Meet. At nationals, he suffered a bazaar crash with 300 meters to go in the finals of the 1500 meters that kept him from earning his first All-American award. He participated in the 2004 national meet and missed earning All-American honors by .90 of a second. Myran was the winner of the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in cross-country this past fall. He was one of three Concordia athletes to receive the award and one of only 58 nationwide to earn the ultimate scholar/athlete award. Myran ended up finishing 10th in the 1500 meters at this year's national outdoor meet and ninth in the 1500 meters at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Meet. To go along with his championship in the 1500 meters at this year's conference meet, he also finished fourth in the 5000 meters. At the conference indoor meet this past winter he finished second in the mile and third in the 1000 meters. He was runner-up in the 1500 meters at the MIAC Outdoor Championship Meet in 2004. Myran finishes his career
as the school record holder in the outdoor 1500 meters and as part of the
outdoor distance medley relay team
