Cobbers Can't Overcome Strength of MSU-Moorhead, Fall 38-3. 
MOORHEAD-- Concordia fell behind 9-0 to cross-town rival at the start of their dual match, and was never able to recover as they fell 38-3 to the Dragons.

The loss snaps a four-match winning streak for the Cobbers and drops their dual-match record to 4-2 for the season. MSU-Moorhead raises their mark to 4-1 for the 2004-05 campaign. The victory is the 19th straight for the Dragons over the Cobbers  

MSU-Moorhead was staked to an early lead as they claimed a forfeit victory at the match-starting weight of 174. Brandon Grunchow then scored an 11-5 decision over Concordia's Luke Reuss (So., Benson, Minn.) at 184. Dennis Kline (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) provided the only points for the Cobbers when he pulled away from Eric Roseen and won 12-5 at 194. That brought the team score to 9-3, the closest it would be for the rest of the match. 

Chris Tuchscherer pinned Matt Gastecki (Fr., Wadena, Minn.) at heavyweight, and then Dave Burgaard scored a major decision at 125. Wes Graff (So., Mankato, Minn.) dropped a 9-3 decision at 133 before Thane Taylor (Fr., St. Cloud, Minn.) was the victim of a technical fall at 141. That brought the score to 27-3, and after Dustin Weege (Fr., Buffalo, Minn.) lost a major decision, MSU-Moorhead held a decisive 31-3 edge. 

In the most anticipated match of the night, Concordia's Lee Rahrlien (Jr., Graceville, Minn.), winner of nine of his past 10 matches, lost to the Dragons' Josh Jansen at 157. Rahrlien fell behind early, giving up six points in the first period, and then tired at the end of the match. Jansen's major decision victory is the second straight over Rahrlien. Jansen posted a 12-4 victory at the St. Cloud State Invitational.

The final match of the evening was the most competitive. Concordia's David Ahmed (So., Conrad, Mont.) fell behind 3-1 in the first period to Rocky Stavn before he rallied in the third period and almost came away with the win. 

The Cobbers will continue their trek towards the NCAA Great Lakes Region Meet when they compete in the Elmhurst (Ill.) tournament on January 29 at 9:00am.
