Cobbers Stop Shutout String
But Can't Overcome Hamline, Fall 6-3.
The three wins for the Cobbers breaks a string of three straight dual meets where Concordia had been shutout by their opponent. The Cobbers lose for the fourth straight time, dropping their overall record to 1-10 on the year. Concordia is now 0-7 in conference play. Hamline wins for the first time in the MIAC as they improve to 1-5. They are now 3-13 overall. After dropping the three doubles matches and then the first three singles matches of the meet, Concordia stormed back to claim the final three singles matches. Annie Styba started the charge by winning her fifth win of the season at the #4 singles position. She leads the team in singles victories and is now 5-5 on the year. Freshman Kelsey Schendel continued the Cobber winning trend by beating Hamline's Trina Ellis 6-2, 6-0 at the #5 singles slot. Val Bostrom finished off the trio of wins for Concordia as she claimed a 6-2, 1-6 (10-3) win over Lacy Schumann in the #6 singles position. Concordia will return home to host Bethel on Saturday, April 16 at 9:00am at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex. They will then host valley City State's club team on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00pm. That match will be part of a Concordia women's/men's tennis doubleheader and Family Day event.
