Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team Recap Angie Pfeiffer and Jennifer
St. John Earn Academic All-District Honors!
Junior Angie Pfeiffer (Jr., Colman, S.D./Colman-Egan HS) and senior Jennifer St. John (Billings, Mont./Billings West HS) both earned academic all-district honors for the first time in their career. Pfeiffer was one of 10 athletes voted onto the Academic All-District First Teami and is now eligible for All-American honors. The honor is given to athletes in the College Division of the Academic All-American award. The College Division includes players from Division II, III and NAIA from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana schools. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to be nominated. Pfeiffer and St. John were two of 69 athletes nominated for the 20 spots for the district award. Pfeiffer spent most of the 2005 outdoor track and field season trying to rehabilitate a leg injury. She was able to compete at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet and helped the 4x400-meter relay team qualify for the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Meet. The relay team failed to qualify for the finals at the national meet. Pfeiffer earned All-American
honors in the 400 meters at the 2005 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and
Field Meet. The award was her first indoor All-American honor and fourth
All-American award in her career. She was the 2005 MIAC indoor champion
in the 400 meters, St. John set the school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase this year. Her time also provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet but was not fast enough to earn a spot in the final field of 19 runners. She finished fifth in the steeplechase at the 2005 MIAC Outdoor track and Field Championship Meet and was part of the 4x800-meter relay team that finished second. She was runner-up and MIAC
All-Conference in the 1000 meters at the 2005 MIAC Indoor Championship
Meet. She also finished fourth in the mile run and fifth in the 3000 meters
at the same meet. Last year she finished sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase
at the 2004 MIAC Outdoor Championship Meet.
