MINNEAPOLIS (2/12/99) -- Goalies Bryan Howard (So., Gold River, Calif./Brooks HS) of Concordia-Moorhead and Ryan McIntosh (So., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin HS) of Augsburg had tremendous games Friday night (2/12), as they kept all shots away from the net and led their teams to a scoreless tie in overtime in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game at Augsburg Ice Arena.
It is believed to be Augsburg's first scoreless tie since at least 1958, as far back as reliable statistics exist at Augsburg. Augsburg is now 10-8-4 overall and 7-3-3 in the MIAC. Augsburg is 1-1-4 in overtime games this season.
Howard picked up his third straight shutout for the Cobbers, who are now 12-8-2 overall and 8-3-2 in the MIAC. He scored shutout victories over St. Olaf 7-0 and 2-0 on Feb. 5-6.
McIntosh stopped all 34 shots he faced, while Howard stopped all 28 shots he faced. The game was also a relatively clean affair, with just 10 minutes of penalties (3 for 6 minutes for Augsburg, 2 for 4 minutes for Concordia).
The teams meet in the final game of the series Saturday (2/13) at 2:05
p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Auggie Men's Hockey
(10-8-3 overall, 7-3-2 MIAC): Sweep keeps Augsburg in playoff picture
Despite a mid-season slump lately, the Auggies are back in the playoff mode following two victories over Hamline over the weekend. On Friday, the Auggies smoked the Pipers 6-1, behind Joe Johnson and Roland Blumer, who had two goals apiece. Steve LaMere scored his 12th goal of the season in the game.
In the second game of the series on Saturday, Augsburg used a six-goal second period to defeat Hamline 9-4. Joe Fulton had two goals for Augsburg in the second game, his first two tallies of the year. The two victories raised Augsburg's record to 10-8-3 overall and 7-3-2 in the MIAC.
The Auggies also
faced Wisconsin-Superior last Tuesday, falling to the Yellowjackets 8-5.
Nick Parnell, who was playing just his third game for Augsburg, had two
goals. Parnell now has four goals in three games in an Auggie uniform.
There was some controversy in the game as the Auggies scored a go-ahead
goal in the third period. The goal was disallowed however and Stevens
Point went on to take control of the game and secure the victory. ra
