Dana Mogck/News Center 6:
It seems to be a common theme with the local college
football programs. Air it out. Concordia is saying the same thing. Josh
Morton with the story of the Cobbers quest to improve on last year's 6-4
record.
Sounds Of... Breaking The Huddle
Jim Christopherson/Cobber Head Coach:
What would you say if Concordia was a passing team? That
would be a shock I think to everybody.
Josh Morton/News Center 6:
Yes, it sure would. But when you lose the top three rushers
from a year ago it makes sense and it also may not last too long.
Jim Christopherson/Cobber Head Coach:
We might start out being a passing team but obviously
the running game I think will come into our offensive thinking as the season
goes on and we expect to run the ball well especially with five returning
offensive lineman that is a good place to start.
Josh Morton/News Center 6:
Behind those five guys up front..An experienced quarterback
taking the snaps. Junior Ethan Pole returns as does last year's Cobber
mvp wide receiver Tory Langemo. But the '97 season will be a little different
for Pole.
Tory Langemo/Cobber Sr. Wr:
Starting out this year he's the man last year we had
a rotation going but this year he's taking all the reps with us and it's
only going to help us he's pretty comfortable back there right now and
he looks good so far.
Josh Morton/News Center 6:
And Pole, along with the whole team will need to look
good early. Starting with the opener with their arch rival.
Jim Christopherson/Cobber Head Coach:
It's a balanced league we lose a game or two early then
it's an uphill climb so our game versus Moorhead State and then a critical
game here with Gustavus September 13th will tell us if we're going to be
a factor in our league.
Josh Morton/News Center 6:
A league which is throwing the ball more than ever. But
Concordia football is running the football and the Cobbers know that for
them to win the title they need to keep the ball on the ground, too. Josh
