Men's cross country has good season
First-year coach Paul Frederickson reported a good year for the men's cross country team, led by senior Rick Brandl of Flushing, N.Y.
Brandi placed second in the conference meet at St. Paul and led the team to a fifth-place finish in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
"This is a very strong conference for men's cross country," Frederickson noted. "It's one of the best in the NCAA Division III, so a fifth-place finish is very respectable."
Re noted that the runner from Macalester who finished ahead of Brandl in the conference meet finished second in the nation in Division III.
Other strong performers included junior Kevin Johnson from International
Falls Minn who was fourth in the North Dakota State School of Science Invitational,
and Kevin Benson a sophomore from North Branch, Minn., who finished seventh
in that meet.
