Mark Jensen heads wrestlers as second year All-American

Concordia's wrestling squad posted a 7-6 record in dual meets during Coach Finn Grinaker's 24th year at the helm.

The team finished fourth in the conference and had two wrestlers who finished second in the conference meet. They were Tom Gruhlke at 142 pounds a junior from Palisade, Minn., and Mark Jensen, a 150-pound senior from Brainerd, Minn.

Highlights of the season included a first-place finish in the nine-team North Country Invitational Tournament at St. John's University, Collegeville, Minn., and AH-American designation for the second consecutive year for Jensen. The Brainerd wrestler started this season late because he was also on the championship football team and participated in the post-season games. Jensen placed fifth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III competition in California. He also set a school record of 102 victories during his college career, bettering the record of 96 set last year by Barry Bennett. Jensen had a final total of 102 wins, 26 losses and 1 tie.
