Women's track
The Concordia women's track team took top Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in indoor track and second place in the outdoor season.
Named to the all-conference team for the indoor season were Denise Baizarini '90 Simms, Mont.; and Minnesotans Tammy Krell and Mary Line, both '88 from Verndale; Sue Licke '88, Deer River; Ann McKenna '88, Moorhead; Kris Deboer '89, Pine Island; Sarah Tuttle '89, Owatonna; Lisa Conzemius '89, Breckenridge; Chris Frederick '91, Foley; Peg Savanik '91, Apple Valley; Sue Caspers '91 Burnsville; and Chris Godfrey '91, Proctor,
Deboer set a school record of 18-3 in the long jump and 11.54 meters in the triple jump. Krell set a school record of 8.75 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles and 15.16 in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the 800-meter run, Baizarini set a school record with the time of 2 minutes, 21 seconds, and the team of Conzemius, McKenna, Line and Voni Arndt '90, Vail, Cob., set a school record of 49.5 seconds in the 400-meter relay. All-conference members for the outdoor season were Line, Conzemius, Arndt McKenna, Krell, Deboer Licke, Frederick, Amy Walstad '91, Fargo, N D and Michelle Jolie, '88 McFarland, Wis.
Jolie, Deboer, Line, Krell, Frederick and McKenna all participated at
the National {'Collegiate Athletic Association Division III
outdoor meet. Line, McKenna, KreH and Frederick placed fifth in the 1,600-meter
relay, and Line placed third in the heptathlon and long jump in both the
in door and outdoor meets Par ticipants in the national indoor meet named
all-America were Deboer, Line, Krell, Frederick and McKenna. Coach Doug
Perry '65 said, • 'The women were well prepared, both mentally and physically.
This is the first time they, or anyone, defeated St. Thomas in an indoor
track meet since 1984. That sure was a great way to end a career for the
seniors.
