Cross country team  led by Vitalis

Elizabeth Vitalis, a sophomore from Fargo, N.D., and Henrik Pedersen, a senior from Oslo, Norway, both ran in the NCAA Division II meet at Ohio Wesleyan University, Deleware, Ohio, Nov.17.

Vitalis ran the women's 5,000-meter course in 18:13.06 to place 14th and earn all-American status. Pedersen placed 30th in the men's race, covering the 8,000 meters in 25:37.74. The College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., swept both team titles.

At the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet held at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul Oct.27, the Cobber women placed second to St. Thomas.

Elizabeth Vitalis, a sophomore at Concordia, earned all-American honors by placing 14th in the NCAA Division II meet Nov.17. However, the team score of 75 was the lowest tally ever registered by the Concordia women in either conference or state competition. The Cobber women also had two runners earn all-conference honors - Vitalis, who placed fifth, and Marion Strand, a senior from Boyd, Minn., who placed 10th.

The Cobber women placed third in the NCAA Division III Central Region competition at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, Nov.10. The team fell 26 points short of qualifying for nationals. Vitalis placed ninth in the overall field in the run to qualify.
