Christopherson to be inducted into Minnesota High School Hall of Fame
The accolades keep rolling in for Concordia Football Head Coach Jim Christopherson. He will be elected into the Minnesota High School Football Head Coaches Associationās Hall of Fame during at their 32nd annual Hall of Fame Banquet at the Radisson Hotel Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn., April 12.
Christopherson will be one of three people heading to the hall.
This is the latest of many honors bestowed on the Concordia coach. His teams have won or shared 11 MIAC titles, including the 1995 title.
He started his athletic career at Henning, Minn., where he earned 17 letters.
He played his college ball here, lettering each of his four years, and was voted All-Conference twice. He was the MIACās most valuable player in 1959.
Christopherson played two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and was their scoring leader in 1962.
After a brief stint with Toronto of the Canadian Football League, he returned to Concordia as the assistant coach to the legendary Jake Christianson in 1964.
He was named head coach in 1969 and has continued the winning tradition with a 190-78-1 record during his 27-year tenure.
His record is fifth best among active Division III coaches.
He has been awarded MIAC Coach of the Year six times and NAIA Coach of the Year in 1981.
