Menâs tennis 0-2 last week; women fall to Carleton


It was a tough week for the Cobber tennis teams as they went a collective 0-3 for the week.

The men bowed to St. Olaf last Saturday 9-0 and 6-3 to St. Johnâs on Friday. The women fell 9-0 to Carleton last Friday as well.

Against St. Olaf, the Olies dominated winning each set of every match.

Concordia fared somewhat better against St. Johnâs the day before as the Cobbers pulled off three match victories.

Sophomore Eric Holmstrom dropped the first set 6-4 but rebounded in the final sets winning 6-2 and 7-5 for his second singles win of the season.

Junior Truitt Buckhouse also played the extra set, disposing of his opponent 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Sophomore Eric Nielson and first-year student Ross Gustafson teamed up to win in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

The womenâs struggles continued as they lost 9-0 to Carleton April 12 in Olson Forum.

The men host Carleton at 3:30 p.m. today in Olson Forum and St. Maryâs at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.

The women play at Hamline today and at Augsburg Saturday.
