Menās track finishes third at St. Olaf; Banks wins three titles


The Concordia menās track team placed third at the St. Olaf Multi-Angular last Saturday.

While the team finished behind first place St. Johnās and second place St. Olaf, the Cobbers captured five individual titles highlighted by senior Aaron Banksā trifecta in the throwing events.

Banks won the shot put with a throw of 56 feet, six and three-quarter inches. His nearest competitor was fellow Cobber senior Dean Nielson. Nielson had a throw of 38-0.

In the hammer, Banks once again dominated with a toss of 167-6. Nielson finished right behind his teammate with a 135-7 effort.

Banks also added the discus to his list of titles last weekend with a winning throw of 149-0.

Junior Adam Lovehaug won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.59 seconds.

In addition, senior Alex Krivobok placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 43-9.

The men will travel to the UND Invite this weekend in Grand Forks while the women, whose meet was canceled last week, will also make the trip north.
