Al, originally from Hibbing, was an all-conference football player at St. Olaf, where he graduated in 1958. Al served as Concordia's head hockey coach and baseball coach in the past. In addition to his football coaching duties, Al was a highly respected faculty member in the physical education department. Al lives in Moorhead with his wife Leah. They have three children, Becky, Mark, and Mary.
