After leading Finley-Sharon to the N.D. State class B title in 1986
and earning all-state honors in both '86 and '87, Thykeson became a three-time
all-MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) player for the
LadyCobbers (1989, 1990, 1991) and was named an NCAA Division III
Kodak All-American in 1990.
Thykeson was the MIAC-MVP in 1990 and was named to the NCAA West Region
All-Tournament team four consecutive years. She helped lead the Lady Cobbers
to a 98-18 record in her four seasons, MIAC titles in 1988 and 1990,
and a National Championship in 1988.
Michelle averaged 14.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in her career. She became
Concordia's third leading all-time career scorer with 1697 career points
and the fifth leading rebounder with 867. Thykeson was a 56% career shooter
from the field and shot 75% from the line.
Michelle graduated with honors as an art major at Concordia. She is the
daughter of Truman and Jan Thykeson.
