The Cobber track team, relying heavily on some key performers, turned in respectable seasons. The Cobber women placed third in the MIAC outdoor meet, and the men finished seventh. The women were led by all-American Kris DeBoer, senior from Pine Island, Minn., who took first in the triple jump and second in the long jump. Freshman Shelly Jader, Cloquet, Minn., grabbed a first in the long jump and third in the triple jump.
The Concordia track team sent six athletes, who had previously met qualifying times and distances, to the NCAA national track meet. In addition to DeBoer and Jader, the following Cobbers competed: Chris Fredrick '91, Foley, Minn., in the 1,500-meter; Jill Farver '89, Scobey, Mont., and Kris Kuehl '92, Heron Lake, Minn., in the discus; Lisa Conzemius '89, Breckenridge, Minn., in the 100-meter hurdles;
DeBoer took seventh in the triple jump for the only Concordia points
at nationals.
