Kermit Cooper Sr. Freeport, BAH Scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in Concordia's 69-94 playoff clinching win over St. Mary's.

2/12 Concordia Clinches Playoff Berth with 69-64 Win Over St. Mary's.
Concordia finally put away a tough St. Mary's team in the last minute of play and came away with a 69-64 victory in Winona. The victory, coupled with the Macalester loss to St. Thomas, clinches a playoff berth in the MIAC tournament, and sends the Cobbers to the postseason for the first time since the 1995-96 season.

Kermit Cooper's (Sr., Freeport, BAH) ally-oop slam with 50 seconds to go gave Concordia (10-8, 13-9) the final lead change of the game at 65-64 and put the Cobbers in the playoffs. Cooper was the key factor in the second half, as he was unstoppable on both ends of the court. He finished with 20 points, a game-high 9 rebounds and the exclamation-mark jam that put Concordia over the top. Joe Snowden (Sr., St. Paul, MN) regained his outside touch and led all scorers with 25. St. Mary's (3-15, 4-18) was led by Nick Michaels who added 21 clutch points, and along with teammate Jason Boll who finished with 18, almost single-handedly pushed the Cardinals to the victory.

The game featured nine lead changes and the score was tied five times. Michaels scored eight straight points for St. Mary's late in the game, including back-to-back 3-point baskets with under two minutes left to give the Cardinals the 64-63 lead. Concordia then called upon the Flint-Cooper duo to seal the game in spectacular fashion. Robb Flint (Jr., Dilworth, MN) brought the ball into the frontcourt and arched a pinpoint pass to the back-door cutting Cooper for the slam.

St. Mary's outshot Concordia for the game, as they were an even 50 percent (23-for-46) from the field. The Cobbers shot 41 percent in both halves but held a decisive 32-16 edge in points scored in the paint.

Concordia travels to St. John's on Thursday to take on league-leading St. John's at 7:30. The Cobbers finish the regular season on Saturday when they host Bethel at 3:00. The MIAC Tournament begins on Tuesday, February 20th.
