Cobbers Finish Fourth at UND
Invitational.
Concordia ran well against tough competition at the University of North
Dakota Cross Country Invitational on Friday, September 14. The Cobbers
finished in fourth place with a total team score of 93 points, narrowly
finishing behind runner-up UND (81 points) and third place Jamestown College
(85 points). NDSU won the event with 19 points.
The Cobber team notched 10 personal records among the 14 runners in
the 8000 meter race. Ben Nylander (So., Lisbon, N. Dak.) returned
to racing in the 2001 season with a personal record time of 26:54 for 8000
meters. Following close behind in was Kirk Nelson (Sr., Hettinger, N. Dak.)
in
27:09. Jason Karls (Sr., Billings, Mont.) and Jim Monson (Jr.,
Maple Plain, Minn.) rounded out the Cobber top four with times of 27:26
and 27:27 respectively.
In two weeks the Cobbers top runners will travel to the competitive Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota. The Cobbers will also compete at the Jamestown Invitational the same weekend.
