2/26 Three Concordia Players
Earn MIAC Postseason Honors.
Three Concordia women's basketball players were honored with MIAC postseason
awards. Senior Mandy Berggren (Cokato, Minn.) and junior Kasey Bostow (Fargo,
ND) were named First Team All-Conference. Mandy Pearson was named to the
All-Defensive and All-First Year teams, as well as being named to the All
Conference Honorable Mention Team.
It is the first time that Berggren, a four-year starter, has been awarded a postseason honor. She finished sixth in the league, and second on the team, in scoring with a 16.0 points per game average. She was also among the MIAC leaders in steals and defensive rebounds. She finished her career with 984 points, which places her 18th on the school's all-time scoring list. Her total of 155 career steals is the the tenth highest total in school history.
Bostow receives an MIAC postseason award for the third straight year. Last year she was named the league's Sixth Player of the Year, and in her first season she was named to the All-First Year Team. She finished second in the league in scoring with an 18.4 points per game average - finishing only two points behind the league leader. Her shooting percentage of .625 led the league and placed her fourth in the nation, and she was also among the league leaders in free throw percentage (.803).
Pearson had a break-out year in her first season as a Cobber. She led the nation in assists with a 6.9 assists per game average, and her conference total of 147 assists was 58 better than the next player. She also led the league in steals, with a 3.5 steals per game average. Pearson averaged 13.0 points per game for the season, finishing third on the team.
