Cobbers Stuck in Season of Statistical Improbability, Lose to UST.
Concordia lost their tenth one-goal game and eighth in the MIAC, losing 1-0 in overtime to St. Thomas in St. Paul. The Cobbers continue to defy the law of averages and suffer through a season where the statistical probability of losing 10 games by a single goal is nearly impossible.

Concordia had several chances to take the lead, and win the game, only to be foiled by near misses and the referee. In the first half, the Cobbers sent a cross into the goal area after a restart from a free kick, had the ball headed into the goal by first-year player Judd Mann (Hastings, Minn.) only to have the goal  disallowed because of a mysterious foul as players ran towards the goal.

In the second half, St. Thomas held the edge in possession but were unable to get the ball past Concordia goalie Kris Overby (Jr., Fargo, N.Dak.), who finished the game with seven saves. Concordia's best chance came when back-up goalie turned forward Eric Dunn (Sr., Great Falls, Mont.) collided with Tommie goalie Will Loepfe and had the ball ricochet over the top of the goal.

The deciding goal came just three minutes into the extra session after Concordia had narrowly missed scoring on Loepfe. On the play, Concordia's top defender Cyle Cavett (Sr., Fargo, N.Dak.) tore his groin muscle and had to be helped off the field. St. Thomas took the ball, went the length of the field and was awarded a free kick just outside of the Concordia penalty box. On the ensuing sequence, the Cobbers cleared the ball to the left side of the penalty box only to have Tommie defender Matt Raplinger take the ball and hammer it into the far side of the net for the win.

For the game, St. Thomas held the edge in shots 14-11. Concordia is left with one more chance to beat the odds, and claim a win in the MIAC. The Cobbers host St. John's on Saturday, November 9th at 1:00pm.
