Cobbers Heat Up Blustery Day, Down MSU-Moorhead 6-1.

(MOORHEAD)---Under an overcast sky and with the temperatures hovering around 40 degrees at game time, Concordia used a four-run, sixth inning to down cross-town rival MSU-Moorhead 6-1.
The Cobbers, starting a stretch where they will play seven games in six days, received a quality start from sophomore pitcher Gretta Stritesky (Ogilvie, Minn./Ogilvie HS). Stritesky pitched a complete game, allowing only one unearned run and scattering seven hits in picking up her first win of the season. Offensively, seven different players had hits in the game. Krystle Abrahamson (Fr., Olivia, Minn./BOLD HS) was the only Cobber with multiple hits. She went 2-for-3 with a lone RBI and reached base in all four at-bats.
Besides Abrahamson, leadoff hitter Mandy Pearson (So., Watkins, Minn./Eden Valley-Watkins HS) was 1-for-3, drove in two runs and scored once.
The game was tied at 1-1 entering the decisive sixth inning when Concordia (4-7) scored four runs on five hits. Pearson's one-out single did the majority of the damage, as she plated Steph Gemar (Jr., Felton, Minn./Shanley HS) and Jill Flatau (Sr., Perham, Minn./Perham HS) to push the lead to 6-1.
Stritesky was the recipient of several two-out, inning-ending defensive stands. MSU-Moorhead (3-13) stranded 12 runners and had runners in scoring position - with less than two outs - in four of the seven innings.
Concordia will travel to St. paul to take on St. Thomas on Wednesday,
April 2 at 3:00pm. The Cobbers will then play at St. Ben's on Saturday,
April 5 at 1:00pm and at St. Mary's on Sunday, April 6 at 1:00pm.
