(ST. PAUL)--- Four Concordia women's basketball players earned MIAC postseason awards for their play during the 2002-3 season. Senior Kasey Bostow (Fargo, N.Dak./ Fargo South HS) and sophomore Mandy Pearson (Watkins, Minn./Eden Valley-Watkins HS) were honored by being named to the MIAC All-Conference Team. Debbie Slack (Jr., Evansville, Minn./Evansville HS) earned MIAC All-Defensive honors and Jamie Visness (So., Hallock, Minn./Kittson Central HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team.
It is the fourth straight season that Bostow has been honored with a MIAC postseason award. It is the second straight year that she has been named to the all-conference team. She was named MIAC Sixth Player of the Year in her sophomore year, and was placed on the MIAC First-Year Team as a freshman. In her first year as a Cobber, Pearson was named to the MIAC Defensive and First-Year Teams, as well as being named to the MIAC Honorable Mention Team. It is the first time that Slack and Visness have earned postseason honors.
Bostow capped off her outstanding four-year career at Concordia by leading the team in scoring with a 13.2 points per game average. She finished 10th in the MIAC in that category. She finished her four years in maroon and gold with 1,311 points, which places her sixth on the school's all-time scoring list.
Pearson, the team's point guard, led the conference in assists for the second straight season. She now has a two-year total of 251 assists, and is on pace to break into the school's all-time assist top ten list before the end of next season. She was also seventh in the league in steals.
Slack earned her way onto the MIAC's all-defensive team by virtue of her rebounding prowess. She led the league in rebounding for the second consecutive season. In 21 league games, she averaged 9.5 rebounds. She now has 445 career rebounds in her first three years at Concordia.
The final member of the Cobber postseason honor
quartet is Jamie Visness. Visness finished second on the team, and 16th
in the MIAC, in scoring with a 10.7 ppg average. She led the league in
free throw percentage (.980), and during the course of the season set an
NCAA women's all-division record for most consecutive free throws (69).
For the season, she made 60-of-61 free throws.
