Coach Ed Langsdorf had high hopes for his 1972 cross-country team The team was almost the same as the previous year, losing only Captain Darrel Carstens through graduation. This year’s squad was led by sophomores Dennis Frichtell and Ed Deutschmann who showed promise last year and performed well in the 1972 track season. Two other returning lettermen, Bob Johnson and Daryl Kosiak, both sophomores, are expected to help the team.

Ed Langsdorf coached the 1973 track team which included Robin Foss, Larry Lenyard, John Lund, Roy Magnuson, Mark Seymour, Tim Price, Don Brummond, Dave Uhlir, Alan Johnston, Bob Johnson, Mark Johnson, Charlie Hammer, Dave Sundby, John Theigpen, Bill Sorenson, Bob Fabian, Gary Johnson, Daryl Kosiak, Bob Heckert, Dave Maggitt, Dennis Frichtel, Terry Asp, Bob Seim, Phil Dregger, Ed Deutschman, John Tunheim, and Don Wamsley. The team was 6th in the MIAC.
“The Concordia track team is off and running as they have participated
in several early season, indoor track meets. Dennis Fritchel set
a new Concordia indoor track mark in the 880-yard run with a time of 1:58.1.
Bob Seim brought down another indoor CC record as he posted a 52.9 second
440-yard dash.
“Also worth noting is that Concordia will host three indoor meets in
March in the new fieldhouse. Coach Ed Langsdorf cited that the new
facility is making a tremendous difference in the track program.”

In 1973 the Concordia golf team, coached by Finn Grinaker, won its first MIAC championship with a 36-hole total of 809, edging out Augsburg at 816. Those on the team were Fred Kahn, Chris Aasland, Bill Riddering, Kevin Bostrom, Jeff Tweeton, Tom Sorbo, Mark Handahl, Craig Johnson, Paul Johnson, and Steve Storslee. MIAC, but won 9 of 13 dual matches during the season. Playing for
Concordia were Brent Glommen, Steve. Schneider, Grady Kjesbo, Mark Schaefer,
Chuck Hawkins, Jim Spencer, Dan Hagseth, Bob Wolf, Mark Theno, Scott Chapman,
Dale Rehkamp, Dave Buchman, Keith Dustrud, and Jim Sanoden.
