Nelson (Twin Valley, Minn./Norman County East HS) became the ninth
player in Concordia men’s basketball history to reach the 1,000-point milestone
when he scored 33 points against Augsburg. He finished his career with
1,071, which places him sixth on the all-time list for men’s basketball
players at Concordia. He also finished the season second on the team in
scoring with a 14.9 points per game average. That total is the highest
of his four-year career.
- For the second straight season, the Concordia men’s basketball team led the MIAC in free throw percentage in overall games. In their 26 games during the season, the Cobbers shot 74.7% from the free throw line. That total is down two percentage points from the 2003-04 season when they finished first in the MIAC and ninth in the nation. In the past two seasons, Concordia has made 75.7% of their foul shots and has scored 870 points via the free throw line.
- Along with their prowess at the foul line, Concordia also led the league in field goal percentage and 3-point field goal percentage in overall games. The Cobbers shot 52.0% from the field and 43.3% from 3-point range. Both those totals are new school records, and both rank the Cobbers in the top three in the nation.
- Keith Eckhoff (Jr.,
Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) set school records in 3-point field goal
percentage this season. Eckhoff shot 47.9% (70-146) from behind the arc.
That total also places him second in the nation in games played before
February 20. He also finished the season by scoring 552 points, which places
him fifth on the school’s all-time list of most points scored by an individual

to capture their second consecutive MIAC Track and Field Championship when
they host the conference meet this weekend. The Cobbers won the 2004 MIAC
Outdoor Track and Field Championship by outrunning perennial champion St.
Thomas 119.7-115.0. No team other than Concordia or St. Thomas has ever
won the indoor conference title since the league initiated indoor track
and field in 1985. The Cobbers have captured the title in 1988, 1998 and
1999 and the Tommies have won the other 17 titles.
- Nicole Plante (Sr., Fort Benson, Mont.) will be looking to score points for Concordia in multiple events at the championship meet. Plante will compete in the pentathlon as well as several other events. She currently has the second-best score in the pentathlon this season. - Two of Concordia’s top athletes also played on the Cobber women’s soccer team that finished second in the MIAC. Amy Ravenhorst (So., Hollandale, Minn.) and Jill Fancher (So., Burnsville, Minn.) are both expected to finish in the top ten in multiple events and both will be key members of the Cobber 4x400-meter relay team. Ravenhorst, who sprained her ankle in an indoor soccer tournament two weekends ago, ran a 1:39.81 in the 600 meters and won the event by over one second. It is the third fastest time in school history and places her third on the conference honor roll this season. She is also ranked seventh in the 400 meters and seventh in the 800 meters. Fancher, a sprint hurdle specialist, has added more distance to her resume. She ran in both the 200 meters and 400 meters at the St. Olaf Open and placed in the top five in both events. She is currently ranked in the top ten in the MIAC in the 55-meter hurdles, 400 meters and is in the top 15 in the 200 meters.
