 The College Sporting
News Feature on Lindsay Czarnecki.
 - MIAC
Profiles of Excellence - Lindsay Czarnecki
 Minnesota prides itself
in being “The State of Hockey,” and most casual fans associate the sport
with cold, snowy northern climates like Minnesota or Canada. This makes
it ironic that Lindsay Czarnecki, one of the all-time top scorers
to ever take the ice for Concordia College, hails not from Minnesota or
nearby Canada, but from sunny southern California.
 Lindsay grew up in Riverside,
a city of just under 300,000 about 40 miles east of Los Angeles. Her father
works for FOX Sports and is involved in the behind-the-scenes production
work for their coverage of the NFL. He previously worked for CBS Sports
in a similar capacity. She is the youngest of three sisters. “My oldest
sister, Scarlet, wasn’t a big athlete,” said Lindsay. “She’s a nurse now.
My other sister, Vanessa, played softball at Fresno State, a Division I
school. Because our mom was born in Greece, she was able to play on the
Greek team in the 2004 Summer Olympics.”(More)

MIAC Postseason Honors for the 3rd Straight Season!
 - Complete
List of MIAC All-Conference and Postseason Awards
 Concordia women's hockey
senior captain Lindsay Czarnecki (Riverside, Calif.) was honored
by the MIAC for the third straight season as she was named to the MIAC
All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. It is also the third consecutive
season that she has been awarded with all-conference honorable mention
honors. She becomes the 12th player in the history of the women's program
to be selected to the MIAC All-Conference Team.
Czarnecki led the team in
scoring in 2004-05. She finished the overall season with 10 goals and eight
assists for 18 points. Her point total is the second highest in her career.
Last season she finished with 22 points (14 goals/8 assists). In conference
play she netted eight goals and six assists. Two of her eight goals were
scored on the power play.(More)   |

 Cobbers Drop Season Finale
3-1 to St. Mary's.
 Gameday: Gameday
Recap - Box Score
 WINONA-- Concordia capped
their 2004-05 season by allowing a goal with under four minutes to play
in the game to break a 1-1 tie and lost 3-1 to St. Mary's. With the win,
the Cardinals clinch an MIAC playoff spot for the fifth consecutive season.
 The two teams skated through
two periods of nearly even play. Both teams scored on a power play and
both were 1-for-3 in man-advantage situations. The only difference cam
in the shot total where the Cardinals held a 27-19 edge.(More)

 Cobbers Battle to 2-2
Tie With Playoff-Seeking St. Mary's.
 Gameday: Gameday
Recap - Box Score
 WINONA-- Concordia scored
a goal in each of the first two periods and then battled to a 2-2 overtime
with St. Mary's in Winona. The tie snaps a three-game losing streak and
earns Concordia a crucial point in the MIAC standings. With the tie, the
Cobbers nudge into eighth place in the league, breaking a tie with Hamline.
Concordia is now 3-12-2 in
the MIAC and 4-17-2 overall. The tie also puts the Cardinals playoff-clinching
celebration on ice for a night. Entering the game, St. Mary's needed one
win in the final two games to clinch the fifth, and final, spot in the
MIAC playoffs. The Cardinals are now 6-8-3 in league play and 9-12-3 overall.(More) |

 Cobbers Lose Final Home
Game of the Season 5-3 to St. Olaf.

(word)
 Concordia played one of
their best periods of the season in the first frame against St. Olaf, building
a 2-1 lead and getting several quality chances against the third-place
Oles. That all changed in the second period as the Cobbers allowed a pair
of power play goals and ended up losing to St. Olaf 5-3.
The two goals in the middle
period were a part of a four-goal string by the Oles - three of which were
scored on the power play. Concordia scored the final goal of the game but
was unable to recapture any of their first-period magic and ended up falling
by two.(More)

 MOORHEAD--Concordia gave
up two goals in the first 10 minutes of play and could never recover as
they lost to St. Olaf 3-1. With the win, the Oles clinch a spot in the
playoffs for the second straight season. The victory also locks up third
place for St. Olaf. The Oles can’t catch the two frontrunners, Gustavus
and St. Thomas, and can’t be caught by any team fighting for the fourth
and fifth place spots.
The Cobbers, winless in their
last six league games, see their MIAC record fall to 3-11-1 and their overall
mark slide to 4-16-1. St. Olaf improves to 10-4-1 in league play and 12-8-1
in all games.(More) |

 Possessed Cobbers Give
Up Alien-Like Goal in Last Minute and Lose 4-3 to Bethel.

(word)
 MOORHEAD-- For the second
game in a row the final 30 seconds in the game reared its ugly head for
the Cobbers. Like an alien appearing from inside the body of an unsuspecting
human in a science fiction horror film, the Cobbers were terrorized by
a goal in the dying seconds of the game for the second consecutive contest.
On Friday it was a pair of
goals in the final 35 seconds that enable Bethel to gain a tie with the
Cobbers. On Saturday, the Royals scored a goal at the 19:30 mark and came
away with a 4-3 victory.(More)

(word)
 MOORHEAD-- With :36 remaining
in the game, Concordia held a 2-0 and it looked as if the Cobbers would
gain their fifth win of the season and snap their three-game losing streak
with a shutout. Unfortunately for Concordia a college hockey game lasts
a full 60 minutes. In the waning seconds of the game, Bethel unbelievably
scored a pair of goals and snatched a sure victory away from the Cobbers.
The two teams skated for an extra five minutes of overtime before finally
settling for the 2-2 tie.
The tie does put a halt to
Concordia's three-game skid. The Cobbers are now 3-9-1 in league play and
4-14-1 overall. Buoyed by their last-second heroics, the Royals improve
their record to 2-9-2 in the MIAC and 2-12-2 overall.(More) |

 Ashley Anderson Named
MIAC Player of the Week!
 Concordia freshman forward
Ashley
Anderson (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) was named the MIAC Women's Hockey Player
of the Week for her two-game performance against Lake Forest (Ill.) last
weekend. It is the first time in her career that she has won the award,
and she becomes the first Cobber player to win the award since Lindsay
Czarnecki (Sr., Riverside, Calif.) won the award on February 2.
Anderson scored two of Concordia’s
three goals in a weekend split with Lake Forest. In the Cobbers' 2-1 win
on Friday, Anderson scored the game-winning goal with 11:11 left in the
game as the Cobbers rebounded from a 1-0 third period deficit to earn their
first win of the season. In Saturday’s 2-1 loss, Anderson scored the team's
lone goal of the game. The score came on the power play in the second period
to give Concordia a 1-0 lead.
 Anderson currently leads
the Cobbers with three goals in six games this season. |
