Deb Lien is Concordia's first women's hockey coach.  She served as the head coach of Concordia's 1998-99 Women's Club Hockey Team and continued as head coach in 1999-2000 when Concordia Women's Hockey began its first season as a varsity sport. 

Deb, a 1988 graduate of Warroad High School, earned a B.S. degree in Physical Education from NDSU in 1994, with minors in coaching, Math Education and Health Education. She is in the process of completing her M.A. in Athletic Administration from NDSU. 

She has most recently served as an assistant hockey coach at Moorhead High School (1997-98) and as head coach of the Moorhead Hockey PeeWee Girls team (ages 12-15) for the Moorhead Youth Hockey Association. 

Deb is also a Captain in the North Dakota Army National Guard, serving as Company Commander for 142d Engineer Combat Battalion in Fargo, ND.

Lien is also on the board of directors for the Fargo-Moorhead Fastpitch
Association.  During the summer of 2001, she will be in charge of the
women's fastpitch league as well as the Red River Fastpitch Tournament.
She will also be working with the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Babe Ruth
Association to start up a girls' fastpitch league in the area.

Lien runs a 4-week girls' hockey league during late July and early
August in Moorhead for players Pee Wee age on up to collegiate level.
For the past three summers, she has worked at the Hockeytown girls'
hockey school in Warroad, MN.


As a four year varsity fastpitch softball player at NDSU from 1989-1992 Deb earned All Conference, Academic All Conference and GTE Academic All District  honors. As both an undergraduate and graduate student, Lien worked as an assistant in the NDSU Sports Information Office. 

Deb also serves as the assistant softball coach and teaches in the Physical Education Department.
