The women's golf team finished tied for 6th
at the NCAA Division II-III National Golf

Earlier, Concordia, led by tournament medalist Strecker,
captured their second consecutive Minnesota State
College Golf Tournament. Concordia's spring success came on the
heals of last fall's MIAC Championship, their
6th title in the tourney's 7 years of existence.
The women's outdoor track and field team, following up on their MIAC Indoor championship, placed third at the MIAC Outdoor meet and took 10th at the NCAA National Meet at Macalester May 21-23. The eight Cobbers who qualified for nationals were led by three All-American

Utke placed second at nationals in the hammer throw with a school record toss of 162-7. DeBoer finished 5th in the discus at nationals with a toss of 140-3, followed by Kearns in 6th at 138-11.
Concordia's 3rd year head coach, Marv Roeske, was named MIAC Coach of the Year.
The Cobbers' 3rd place finish at the MIAC Championship Meet on May 9th was highlighted by the performance of Sarah Severson ('98, Ellsworth, WI). Severson won the long jump (17-3 1/2), placed second in the heptathlon, took 3rd in both the triple jump (35-11 1/2) and pole vault (8-7 1/2) and placed 8th in the high jump (4-11 3/4). Severson later set a school record in the long jump with a 19-2 1/2 and qualified for Nationals, where she finished 11th.
Cobber individual MIAC champions, in addition to Severson, were Kearns in the Hammer and Amanda Glas ('99, Fargo) in the javelin. Glas went on to place 13th at Nationals.
Others advancing to nationals were Heidi Brenden ('01, Minot, ND) (15th in the 1500) and Sara Grineski ('01, Moorhead) (18th in the 100 hurdles).
Thirteen women's track team members also earned Academic
All-MIAC honors with their cumulative GPAs of 3.35 or better. Those
so honored, in addition to Kearns, Utke and Severson, were Jessica
Anderson ('99, Eden Prairie), Michelle
Beare ('99, Fargo, ND), Jessica
Edwards ('00, Glendive, MT), Stacia Fey
('98, Fargo, ND), Mollee Ludtke
('98, Albert Lea, MN), Karin McGregor
('00, Pelican Rapids), Charity Penn
('00, Buffalo, SD), Leta Prochnow ('99,
Jamestown, ND), Karyn Senst ('00,
Two Harbors), and Kelly Shannon ('00, Rapid
City, SD).

Concordia freshman Adam Strainer ('01, Helena, MT) took second at the MIAC in the triple jump. He set a school record in the triple jump on May 14th with a leap of 47-4 1/2 and went on to place 16th at NCAA Nationals.
Jeff Hertel ('01, Fargo) led the Cobbers at MIAC decathlon with a 5th place finish and is believed to be just the 6th freshman in MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship history to place in five events. In addition to his decathlon performance, Hertel placed 4th in the Javelin, 7th in the long jump, 7th in the triple jump, and 8th in the high jump.
Cobber Joel Nelson ('01, Fargo,) led Concordia in the weight events, placing third in the MIAC in both the shot put and the hammer throw.

Concordia was led by All-MIAC performers David Feir ('98, Moorhead) and Dan Geiszler ('98, Moorhead). Feir, an outfielder, hit .426 in MIAC play. Geiszler, also an outfielder, hit .324 with 22 RBI.
Three Cobbers earned Academic All-MIAC
honors: Zach Anderson ('00, New London), Cory
Brasel ('00,Perham) and BJ Neiss
('99, Sidney, MT)
The Cobber softball team ended the year 7th in the MIAC with a 10-12 record, 16-17-1 overall.

Concordia was led by first team All-MIAC players Heidi Mueller ('99, Glenwood) and Sheri Damlo ('98, Frazee). Mueller, a catcher, hit .404. Damlo, an infielder, hit .327 with 8 RBI.
Earning honorable mention All-MIAC honors was Allison Haaland ('99, Hanley Falls).
Four Cobbers earned Academic All-MIAC
