11/04 Concordia Coasts to 5-2 Victory Over St. Mary's.
Concordia scored three straight goals to open the game and coast to a 5-2 victory over St. Mary's. The Cobbers, after narrowly escaping defeat last night, left no doubt as they held the Cardinals scoreless for two periods and never let them get to within two goals. Transfer student Toby Schneider (Jr., Grand Forks, ND) provided the offense spark by scoring two goals and assisting on another. Schneider scored the only goal of the first period at 13:50 and the Cobbers skated into the locker room with a 1-0 lead. Concordia put the game out of reach in the second period when they received power play goals from Schneider and Brady Burgess (Jr., Moorhead, MN). The teams traded goals in the third period with Aaron Marsh (So., Summerland, BC) scoring his first collegiate goal for Concordia. Cobber All-American goalie Bryan Howard (Sr., Gold River, CA) made 32 saves on the day while St. Mary's goalie Dan Byron stopped 31 shots. Concordia takes three points away from the opening series with St. Mary's and returns home next weekend to face St. Olaf in a weekend series. Game time on Friday is 7:00.
