Cobbers Break Out the Offense, Down Hamline 5-0.
Concordia broke out of their offensive doldrums and handed visiting Hamline a 5-0 defeat. The five goals is the most for the Cobbers this season and most since 1999 when Concordia beat Augsburg 7-0 on October 20th.

Gennard Lombardozzi (Sr., Billings, Mont.) poked home a rebound off of a direct kick shot from Jerry Nathan (So., Fargo, N.Dak.) at 5:04 and the Concordia (2-2-0, 6-2-0) offense rolled from that point. 20 minutes later first year player Dustin Allard was hauled down by Piper keeper Craig Brundy on a breakaway, and Kevin Roos (Sr., Fargo, N.Dak.) converted the ensuing penalty kick to give Concordia a 2-0 lead. Brundy was sent off for his infraction and Hamline (0-3-0, 2-6-0) played with only 10 men for the rest of the game.

The Cobbers took advantage of their man-up situation by scoring two more goals before the end of the first half. Concordia leading scorer Chance Buzzell (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) finished off a give-and-go passing combination with Nathan, and then Jon Grundstrom (Fr., Maplewood, Minn) slotted home a cross from Paul Poduska (Sr., Fort Collins, Colo.) to record his first collegiate goal.

The lone goal in the second half came when Scott Noland (Sr., Minnewaska, Minn.) deflected a shot off a Hamline defense to score his first goal of the season. Concordia split the goalkeeping duties between sophomore Kris Overby (Fargo, N.Dak.) and junior Eric Dunn (Great Falls, Mont.). Overby made three saves in the first half, while Dunn collected a pair of saves in the second half.

Concordia returns to MIAC action on Saturday when they host St. Mary's at 1:00 pm.
