Cobbers Score Two in Each Half, Down St. Mary's 4-0.
Concordia started slowly, found their game legs and scored two goals in each half to down St. Mary's 4-0. The Cobbers  received a pair of goals from first year player Dustin Allard (Helena, Mont.) and lone goals from Brandon Topp (Jr., Fargo, N.Dak.) and Jason VanValkenburg (So., Fargo, N.Dak.) to notch their seventh win of the season.

St. Mary's (2-3-0, 5-5-1) started quickly and almost went up 1-0 when a shot from Joe Rude deflected off the crossbar in the sixth minute. The Cobbers (3-2-0, 7-2-0) found their legs and proceeded to attack the Cardinal net at a furious pace. Topp scored his second goal in three games when he crashed the net and deflected home a cross from  Chance Buzzell (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) at 21:56. Allard responded with the first of his pair of goals at 34:29 and Concordia took a 2-0 lead into the break.

After halftime the Cobbers had a Kevin Roos (Sr., Fargo, N.Dak.) goal disallowed, but opened a three goal margin when VanValkenburg got behind the Cardinal defense from six yards out and fired a ball into the far corner past St. Mary's goalie Bob Endemann. Allard closed out the scoring on a quick passing combination from Buzzell and Rick Tungseth (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) at 82:26. It was Buzzell's third assist of the game, which ties a Concordia school record for most assists in a game.

Kris Overby (So., Fargo, N.Dak.) made eight saves in the game to record his fourth shutout of the year. He also had an assist, his second of the season. Endemann faced 11 shots on goal, stopping 7.

The Cobbers will turn around and host Bethel on Tuesday, October 9th at 4:00.
