Cobbers Shut Down Carleton 1-0, Win Fourth Straight.
Dustin Allard's (Fr., Helena, Mont.) goal at 20:26 was all that Concordia needed in shutting down Carleton 1-0 to win their fourth straight game. It was also the Cobbers fourth straight shutout.

Allard took a pass from Gennard Lombardozzi (Sr., Billings, Mont.) and directed the ball just inside the far post to give the Cobbers (5-2-0, 9-2-0) the 1-0 lead, mid way through the first half. Both teams had scoring chances in the opening period but both were unable to finish from in close. The Knights (2-5-0, 5-5-2) finished the half on the attack but were unable to convert.

In the second half, Carleton used the wind to their advantage and pinned the Cobbers in their defensive end. Concordia didn't allow the Knights to get free inside the penalty area, and almost went up 2-0 on a counterattack with just over 20 minutes left. Chance Buzzell (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) took a feed from Kevin Roos (Sr., Fargo, N.Dak.) and beat Carleton goalie Ehren Reilly only to have the ball hit the inside of the post. Carleton's best chance of the half came with just over one minute to play when Miles McDonough took a crossing pass off of a corner kick from 12 yards out and hammered a side volley towards the Cobber net. Concordia goalie Kris Overby (So., Fargo, N.Dak.) took two steps towards the post, stretched to get horizontal and tipped the ball around the post. It was one of eight saves on the day for Overby. Reilly had to turn away four shots in the losing effort.

Concordia posts their eighth shutout in 11 games and drops their team goals against average to 0.36. The Cobbers will travel to St. Paul to play league-leading Macalester on Wednesday, October 17th at 5:30 pm.
