Cobbers Stumble Out of Starting
Gate, Lose to St. Olaf 6-1.
Concordia surrendered three goals in the first eight minutes of play
and never recovered, losing 6-1 to St. Olaf. The Oles (3-0, 6-1) used a
deadly finishing touch around the net to make the most of their chances.
Concordia (1-3, 4-5) had more shots on the day as they outshot St. Olaf
22-20. The Cobbers were unable to mount a serious threat after falling
behind 4-0 in the 19th minute.
With a four goal lead St. Olaf was able to sit back and defend as starting keeper Elizabeth Brandell finished the game with 10 saves and the victory. Concordia scored their lone goal of the game when senior Marijka Belgum-Gabbert (Winona, Minn.) converted a penalty kick at 64:07. Cobber goalkeeper Kathy Braun (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) made eight saves on the day.
Concordia will travel to Hamline on Tuesday for their next conference
game.
