Cobbers Heat Up Cold April Saturday, Sweep Hamline 3-0, 15-3.

Concordia held Hamline to a five-hit shutout in the first game and
then pounded out 19 hits in the nightcap, sweeping the Pipers 3-0, 15-3.
Junior pitcher Bryan Marudas (Hinckley, Minn.) pitched five innings of scoreless baseball before giving way to Derek Dormanen (Jr., Menahga, Minn.) in the sixth to close out the game and the shutout. For Marudas it was his third win of the year and lowered his team-best ERA to 2.27. Dormanen picked up his third save of the year. Offensively the Cobbers were able to scratch out three runs against Hamline ace Nate Erickson. Concordia scored two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth. The pair of runs in the fourth frame came on only two singles, as the Cobbers were the beneficiary of two Piper errors.
Ryan Hebrink (So., Sacred Heart, Minn.) and Jeremy Hinderks (So., Renville, Minn.) provided the offensive punch for Concordia, as they both went 2-for-3 in the game.
In the second game the Cobbers wasted little time jumping on the Hamline pitching staff. In the first inning they hammered out three runs on four hits. The big strike in the frame was a three-run blast by Hebrink. It was his team-leading fifth home run of the year. For the game, Concordia had a season-high 19 hits and went through four Hamline pitchers.
Concordia tacked on four more in the second inning and then two in the third to open a 9-3 lead after only three innings. Hinderks gave Concordia five hard fought innings from the starting position. Justin Berg (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.) came on in relief in the sixth and pitched two perfect innings, striking out two Piper batters.
Offensively, the Cobbers were led by firstbaseman Chad Felstul (Sr., Morris, Minn.) who went 4-for-5 with three RBI's. He also tied Hebrink for the team lead in home runs (5), when he hammered a pitch up in the strike zone over the left field fence in the second inning. At the top of the order, Dormanen and K.C. Solum (So., Barnesville, Minn.) went a combined 6-for-10. Concordia's top four batters (Dormanen-Solum-Hebrink-Felstul) went 12-for-19 and produced 11 of the 14 RBI's in the game.
Concordia (6-4, 14-10) will turn around and play at Augsburg tomorrow
at 1:30. Hamline (1-7, 4-15) will host Gustavus tomorrow at 1:00.
