Cobbers Let St. John's Escape, Lose 5-4.

Eric Giga So. Owatonna, Minn. Accounted for two of Concordia's four points in their 5-4 loss to St. John's.

Concordia took a 2-1 advantage into the singles matches, proceeded to lose the top four slots, and lost to St. John's 5-4.

The two bright spots for the Cobbers continue to be the play of doubles partners Eric Giga (So., Owatonna, Minn.) and Todd Scearcy (Jr., Spicer, Minn.). As a doubles tandem they beat Ryan Hinman and Ryan Orwoll of St. John's 8-5. Playing seperately in the singles, they both won their matches, thus securing three of the four points Concordia scored in the match. Scearcy had a tougher road as he had to go to the super tie breaker to beat his opponent, while Giga blasted the Johnnies Joe Houghton in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. Both Giga and Scearcy have the best records on the Cobber squad, as they have identical 7-3 marks on the year.

The Cobbers will finish their dual meet schedule when they play at Carleton on Friday, April 26th at 4:00pm. They will then play in the MIAC Championships on May 3-4 at Gustavus.
