Cobbers Finish Second at St.
John's Quadrangular.
Concordia finished in second place at the St. John's Quadrangular,
an event that featured five MIAC teams that will be competing in the upcoming
MIAC Indoor Championships, March 1-2.
The Cobbers lost to St. John's but beat out Gustavus, Carleton and Macalester. Concordia used the strength of two relay teams and a pair of high jumpers to hold off the Gusties for second place.
Both the 4x200 and the 4x400 relay teams finished second and seniors Paul Poduska (Sr., Fort Collins, Colo.) and Joe Schmidgall (Sr., Morris, Minn.) finished tied for first in the high jump. That was the only event that the Cobbers would capture at the meet. For Poduska, it was the second time in the indoor season that he has won the high jump at a meet. Schmidgall is coming off a serious hamstring injury, that has sidelined him for almost all of the indoor season, and will be looking to score points in the pentathlon and jump events at the MIAC Championship Meet.
Brad Ragan (Sr., Bismarck, N.Dak.) continued his strong indoor
season by placing second in both the shot put and weight throw events.
Ragan has placed in the top five in both events at every meet this season
except one. He will be looking to improve on last year's fourth place finish
at the MIAC Indoor Meet in the shot put.
