Cobbers Start Slow, Get Out-Muscled by Jamestown 32-10.

(Moorhead, Minn.)-- Concordia lost the first individual matches in their dual meet with Jamestown and lost 32-10. The Cobbers finished with a flurry by winning the final three bouts and grabbing 10 points from the Jimmies.

The Cobbers miss the chance to record the most dual wins in a season since 1991-92 campaign. Concordia ends their dual meet portion of their season with a 5-6 record. Jamestown ends their dual meet season with a 9-5 overall record.

The night started sluggishly for Concordia, as three of the first four wrestlers that were sent to the mat lost by pin falls. Concordia's Ed Oehlers (Jr., North Branch, Minn/North Branch HS) and Jamestown's Joe Vincent wrestled in one of the best matches of the night at 197 pounds. Vincent prevailed in the second match of the dual meet 4-2. The other close non-win match turned in by a Cobber was in the 133 pound match where Wes Graff lost 9-4 to Dave Folden.

The tide was eventually turned by Concordia's Lee Rahrlien (So., Graceville, Minn./C-G-B HS). Wrestling at 157, Rahrlien completely shut down the Jimmies' John Motta and came away with a 9-0 major decision. Picking up on Rahrlien's momentum, David Ahmed (Fr., Conrad, Mont./Conrad HS) followed suit by winning a 4-2 decision over Chris Feist at 165. In the final match of the night, Mitch Gabrielson (Fr., Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls HS) pulled off a third-period win by claiming a 6-4 decision over Clyde Switzer.

Doug Perry's crew will now turn their attention towards the NCAA Central Region Meet. The Cobbers will return to action on Saturday, February 7 when they travel to St. John's to compete in the North Country Invite.
