2/12 Cobbers Make Short Work of UM-Morris,
Win 37-18.
(Moorhead, Minn.)--- In a dual match that featured only three individual matches, and lasted a total of 37 minutes, Concordia walked away with a 37-18 victory over UM-Morris. The Cobbers won five weight classes by forfeit, while the Cougars were awarded two victories due to forfeit. In the three weight classes that had matches, one was settled due to injury default, one went to double overtime and the third was a major decision. At 133, Concordia's Kellen Lewis (So., Radcliff, Kent.) had to retire in the first period due to an injury. That allowed UM-Morris' Jaime Compean to claim the six team points. In the 141lb weight class, the Cobbers' Zack Schroeder (Sr., Breckenridge, Minn.) gutted out a double-overtime win over Todd Sanchez. In the best match of the night, Schroeder fought through a shoulder injury to score a two-point reversal in the second extra period. The final contested weight class was at 157lbs, where Concordia's Steve Peterson (Jr., Chisago Lakes, Minn.) broke open the match in the third period to score a 14-3 major decision. Concordia won the final five weight classes due to forfeit to come away with the 19-point victory. The Cobbers finish with a 4-12 dual match record for the 2002-03 season. Concordia will wrestle in the St. Olaf Tournament on Saturday, February 15 at 9:00am, before waiting to see if any wrestlers will qualify for the NCAA Regional Tournament on February 21-22 in Rock Island, Illinois. 2/08 Cobbers Post an Impressive 8th Place Finish at North Country

Concordia sent nine wrestlers to compete at one of the premiere wrestling invitationals in the area. The Cobbers took part in the 2002 St. Cloud State Invitational held on the campus of St. Cloud State. Three Concordia wrestlers made it to the quarterfinals of their weight classes. Cory Winter (Jr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) wrestled his way into the quarters in the 149lb division, Lee Rahrlien (Fr., Graceville, Minn.) advanced to the final eight in the 165lb class and William Duppler (So., Valley City, N.Dak.) advanced in the heavyweight division. Winter defeated Dana Dargatz of Northern State 10-8 in the first round and then lost to Kyle Nay of Dickinson State. Rahrlien beat Carl Hansen of the University of Mary before falling to Billy Morgan of Augsburg. Duppler lost to eventual runner-up baron Blanchard of Northern State after soundly defeating Jimmy Winter 10-0 in his opening match. Concordia will have a break over the Christmas holiday. Their next action will be on January 11th at the Dickinson Open. 12/11 Cobbers Get Taken to the Mat by MSU-Moorhead 40-9.
After three matches against MSU-Moorhead, the Cobbers trailed by a slim 10-9 margin and were threatening to win for the first time in 17 attempts against the Dragons. MSU-Moorhead proceeded to win the remaining six matches and beat Concordia 40-9. The dynamic duo of Dennis Kline (So., Plymouth, Minn.) and William Duppler (So., Valley City, N.Dak.) continued to lead the way for the Cobbers. Kline, wrestling in the third match of the night at 197lb., won a hard-fought 4-1 decision over Cody Ranz. Duppler cut the Dragons lead to one when he pinned Jimmy Winter at 1:44 of the first period. The rest of the night would belong to MSU-Moorhead, as they earned a forfeit at 125lb. and then won four of the next five matches by major decisions, technical falls or pins. With the loss, Concordia drops to 1-5 in dual meets on the year while MSU-Moorhead improves to 3-2. The Cobbers will compete at the St. Cloud Invitational on Saturday, December 14 before taking a long break over the Christmas holiday. 12/07 Cobbers Go 1-3 at Simpson Duals.
