Cobbers Scour the Comets to Give Tim Mosser 200th Collegiate Victory!!

Tim Mosser collected his 200th collegiate victory as the Cobbers swept Mayville State 3-0.

(MAYVILLE, N.D.)-- One milestone down, several to go. The Concordia volleyball team wrapped up head coach Tim Mosser's 200th collegiate victory in a nice and neat 3-game package and gave him one less headache to worry about. After failing to get his 200th win in the team's season-opening loss at MSU-Moorhead, Mosser and the rest of the Cobbers quickly took care of business against an overmatched Mayville State (2-8-0) team. Concordia got stronger each game, winning 30-25, 30-24, 30-15.

The victory gives Mosser his 200th win in his 12th season at the helm of the Cobbers. He has now amassed a record of 200-160 and can now set his sights on his first MIAC regular-season championship.

The Cobbers were led by sophomore Rebecca Shane (Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes HS). Shane recorded 10 kills. Jacki Barten (Sr., Melrose, Minn./Melrose HS) had eight kills and five blocks to go along with five service aces. Kris Sather (Sr., Fosston, Minn./Fosston HS) continued to play sharp in her final season. The veteran rightside hitter completed the match with six kills and a single service ace. The only other Cobber with more than five kills was senior Amy Fitzner (Valley City, N.D./Valley City HS). Fitzner finished with six kills and a team-high 11 digs. 

Concordia (1-1-0) will return to action, looking to add to Mosser's win total, on Friday, September 10 when they play in the UC-Santa Cruz Tournament in Santa Cruz, Calif. The Cobbers will play their toughest match of the weekend jamboree first, when they square off against undefeated Southwestern University of Texas on Friday at 6:00pm (CST). Concordia will finish the tournament on Saturday with matches against UC-Santa Cruz at 1:00pm and then Whitman (Wash.) at 4:00pm. Concordia will open up play in the MIAC when they return home next week. The Cobbers will play at Augsburg on Wednesday, September 15 at 7:00pm.
