9/12/98 | Bethel game 1 Stats | Depth Chart | Bethel defeated Trinity 27-14 on Saturday behind 127 yards rushing by sophomore tailback, Josh Savageau (Blaine, MN). Included in his 14 carries was a 37 yard run for the first score of the game. Sophomore Joe Persuitti (Mounds View, MN) had a successful start to his career, completing 17 of 28 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown. Sophomore fullback Ryan Ruisch (Johnston, IA) had 72 yards on 5 carries, including a 30 yard touchdown. Junior tailback Dave Dickman (Black River Falls, WI) had 57 yards on 5 carries. Kirk Midthun led the Bethel defense with 13 total tackles, 2 for loss, and a pass break up. He also returned five punts for 55 yards, including a 46 yarder.
Josh Savageau, Soph. Tailback, Blaine, MN Savageau led Bethel in their 27-20 win over Trinity International (IL) on Saturday. Savageau scored Bethel's first touchdown on a 37 yard run and finished with 127 yards on 14 carries. He also returned two kicks for 32 yards. In the second half he had numerous carries for first downs that kept drives going. (MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week)
Midthun led Bethel's defense and special teams in the win on Saturday.
Defensively, he had 13 total tackles (3 solos, 10 assists), two tackles
for loss for 2 yards, and a pass break up in holding the Trojans to 217
total yards. Returning punts, Midthun had five returns for 55 yards, including
a 46 yard return to get Bethel into scoring position.
