Golf

Two-time champions of the Minnesota Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, the women's golf team had a good fall season despite losing four starters.

The team captured first place in three meets - the Briar Cliff Invitational, Sioux City, Iowa; the South Dakota State University Invitational in Sioux Falls; and the Northern State Invitational in Aberdeen, S.D. They placed second and third respectively in Concordia's Invitational and the SDSU Invitational, held at Watertown, S.D.

Their team score for the season averaged 351, with Annette Haugstul, a junior from Fosston, Minn., scoring an average 84.9 for 18 holes. At the Briar Cliff tournament, she captured medalist honors. Lisa Evenson, a senior from Redwood Falls, Minn., was medalist for the SDSU-Sioux Falls tournament, where she shot a career-low 82.

The team won  their third straight MAIAW championship at Northfield, Minn., May 4-5.
