For the third straight team meet, Concordia finished second and had several impressive individual performances. The Cobbers finished only 55.5 points behind meet champion, and NCAA Division II powerhouse, North Dakota State University. Concordia were 52 points better than South Dakota State, who finished in third place and 66.5 points better than MSU-Moorhead. Individually, Concordia won two events, had seven all-time top ten school marks and finished with 22 personal-best performances. Angie Pfieffer (Colman, S.D./Colman-Egan HS) won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.63. She beat out a field that featured two athletes from NDSU and top-flight sprinters from Bemidji State and SDSU. Her time is the second fastest mark in the MIAC this season and is only 3/100th of a second behind the national provisional mark of 12.39. She also made a splash in the 200-meters where she finished third, but broke the school record with a time of 25.44. That mark is the best time in the conference this spring and is only 4/100th of a second behind the national provisional mark. The other event winner for the Cobbers was Carrie Fransen (So., Coleharbor, N.Dak./Underwood HS). Fransen won the 1,500-meters in a time of 4:55.85. That is her career-best and is the 10th fastest time in school history. The 3,00-meter steeplechase proved to be a huge point-winner for Marv Roeske's crew. Lisa Owen (Jr., Mineral, Virg./Minot HS)(11:42.27), Julie Miller (So., Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS)(11:50.65) and Jennifer St. John (So., Billings, Mont/Billings West HS)(11:56.31) pushed themselves to a 2-3-4 finish in the event with all three posting marks that were in the top six in school history. Owen's second place time is the second best time in the MIAC so far this season. The long jump, while not providing the Cobbers with many finalists, proved to be one of the most successful events of the day for the team. Renee Splichal (Garrison, N.Dak./Garrison HS), Emily Tollefson (So., Minot, N.Dak./Minot HS), Nicole Plante (So., Fort Benton, Mont./Fort Benton HS) and Katie Young (Fr., Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area HS) all had personal best distances in the event.
